Events | Obituary From The Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation Service, P.A JOANNE ELEANOR BELZ Joanne Eleanor Belz came into this world on June 9, 1946 and left it on April 5, 2022. The time in between was filled with love, laughter and good times. Joanne was the second of four children born to Margaret and Joseph Belz. As the only daughter, she learned early the traits of being a hard worker and a helpful companion to all, especially her mother. Their lives were not easy, but they made the best of what they had. It was that hardship that formed a loving bond between mother and daughter that they shared for life. When her family moved to Riviera Beach, Joanne's bright smile and fun-loving attitude earned her lots of friends. She enjoyed her days at St. Jane Frances School and later Glen Burnie High School. Known for her quick wit and adventurous spirit, Joanne created lots of good times and good friendships. Joanne loved the Riviera Beach area. She fondly recounted stories of her days working at the Stoney Creek Inn and later of starting her family and living on Rugby Road. Close to family and friends, this was her home. She shared her love of the area with her children. They would take walks to the little beach on Stoney Creek and to their grandparents' houses nearby. Later, the family moved to Harford County. Life was much different, but Joanne's personality was not. She quickly made friends, got involved in her church, and had lots of adventures with new friends. Family was always the heart of what made Joanne happy. Her three children, Joey, Jamie, and Julie were the absolute greatest treasures of her life. Nothing made her smile more than to be with them. (This even included a stint as the cafeteria lady at their middle school). Their friends were always welcome at their house and everyone called her mom. As time went on, Joanne took on other jobs: dental assistant, office manager, entrepreneur, and childcare provider. At each and every job, Joanne added more "children" to her family. Caring for others and offering advice (solicited or not) was what she did best. She treated them all with the same attention and care that she gave to her own growing family. That family grew by two daughters-in-law, Michelle and Levelle, one son-in-law, Rich, and a bonus daughter, Deanna. As time went on, her family increased exponentially with the addition of her grandchildren. Her title changed from mom to MeMe when Brandon, Emma, Ally, Kara, Neil, Kiersten, Evan, Aidan, Kevin, Grace Anne, and CJ came along. These grandchildren provided many new and cherished moments in her life. Time spent together at the beach or at a sporting event with family was better than any other time in the world for Joanne. She was proud of each and every one of their accomplishments and you knew it by her cheers! These memories will be cherished always by each and every one of us. Besides her children, their spouses, and grandchildren, Joanne's memories will be kept alive by all of the special people in her life including her brother Charles and his wife Sharon, former husband Joe and his wife Bonnie, her bonus sister Mary and her husband John, best friend Pat, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral mass will be said at 10:00AM on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at St. Jane Frances Church (8499 Virginia Avenue Riviera Beach, MD 21122-3097). Internment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brandon Tolson Foundation (https://brandontolsonfoundation.org/) or Stella Maris Hospice (https://stellamaris.org/health-services/hospice/). |
