About Allie E. "Pete" Corbin, passed away on February 6, 2017, with his family by his side.
He was born on Sept. 2, 1929, in Rectortown, Virginia, to the late Allie A. and Katie W. Corbin. Pete, as he is known, graduated from Marshall High School in Marshall, VA, and Madison College in Harrisonburg, VA (James Madison University).
Mr. Corbin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Coates Corbin; his daughter, Laura Corbin Hurst, and her children: Alfred Coulter Hurst VI and Allison Claire Hurst; his son, Peter Corbin, his wife Melissa, and their children: Bethany Ann Corbin, Benjamin Alan Corbin, Erin Nicole Slattery and Kellie Renee Slattery.
During his time at Madison College, he joined the United States Navy. He served from 1948-1952.
After leaving the Navy, he completed his degree from Madison College and became a high school history teacher at Howard High School in Howard County, Md.
After retiring as a school teacher, Mr. Corbin worked in a family business that brought him to the Eastern Shore.
During his many years on the Eastern Shore, he served six years on the Talbot County Board of Education and also served on the Board of Directors of St. Mark's Village. He was also a longtime active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Easton and also a lifelong member of BPOE #1622 and served as Exhaulted Ruler from 1985-1986.
Pete was a lifelong baseball fan. He played, coached and umpired for many years. He was a big fan of the Washington Senators and later the Minnesota Twins; and if you knew Pete, he always had his Twin's hat on.
Events A visitation was held at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 200 S. Harrison St. in Easton, Md. on Thursday, February 9, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Easton on Friday, February 10 at 1 p.m.
