About April 1, 2016 - Ed Beasley Obituary by the Patriot-News : Ed Beasley, 64, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away on Thursday April 14, 2016 at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence in Susquehanna Township. Born in Washington, D.C., on September 3, 1951, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Bernice (Lehman) Beasley. He received a B.S. in Business from the University of Maryland, and later earned his M.BA from George Washington University. On January 12, 1980, he was united in marriage with Bonnie M. (Earp) Beasley, with whom he shared a union of 36 years. At the age of 14, initially to help support his family, Ed began working in a neighborhood drug store. His dedication to hard work, and his confidence in the work that he did, led him on a lifetime career path in the retail drug store business that culminated in his position as Senior Vice President of the Eastern Division for Rite-Aid. His role included direct responsibility for nearly 1000 store locations, with more than 11,000 associates, in the New England and Mid-Atlantic states. Although Ed was always on the move, he never lost sight of the needs of those who were around him. His generous and compassionate nature was never more evident then during 9/11, when he led the Rite-Aid team in their tireless Disaster Relief efforts throughout New York City. His naturally gregarious personality, and true desire to do something that would benefit the community in which he lived, led Ed to being instrumental in establishing a LeTip International Chapter in the Capital City. In addition to being a founding member, he served on the Board of Directors, and as Membership Chair, of this professional and business networking organization. Personally, Ed had a passion for Volleyball - both for its intensely competitive nature; as well as, its ability to provide a strong comradery with his teammates. Nothing, however, was of greater importance to Ed than his family. For them he had a deep and abiding love and devotion. His singular focus was their care and well-being. Throughout his life, Ed left a lasting, indelible impression on both those who he met, as well as those who were closest to him. In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by his daughter, Lauren Blattenberger, and her husband, Michael, of Harrisburg, and his grandchildren, Ella and Adley. A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Ed Beasley will be held at 11 :00 A.M. on Saturday April 23, 2016, at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., and again on Saturday, prior to the service, from 9:00 to 11 :00 A.M., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that memorial contributions be made to the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, 1701 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
