| About | Joseph Cifala II, 49, of Chesterfield County, Va. died suddenly April 1. He was born Aug. 9, 1959, in Washington, D.C., and moved with his family to Turkey Point in Edgewater in 1970. He graduated from Southern High School and from the American Marine Institute in Daytona, Fla. as a Certified Marine Mechanic. Survivors include his parents, Mary Ellen and Joseph Vincent Cifala; his children, Kevin, Crista and Rachael Cifala; two sisters, Mary Teresa Gatens and Marie Helene Cifala; one brother, James B. Cifala; half-sisters, Paulette Turnbull and Vincette Wilson; nephews, Michael and Vincent Luby, Joseph and Robert Gatens; and many friends. Services will be held at 11 a.m. April 18 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River, where the family will receive condolences from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Second Genesis, 8611 2nd Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20910. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
