| About | Darlene "Dee" Downey Obituary Darlene “Dee” A. Downey, 65, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at her residence. She was born December 25, 1958, in Alexandria, Virginia, a daughter of Lawrence M. Downey and Mary J. (Alcorn) Hillman. In addition to her parents of Myrtle Beach, SC, she is survived by a brother, Michael Downey and his wife, Linda of Owings, MD; a sister, Laurene "LaLee" Dumonceau of Churchton, MD; nieces, Alexandra, Kaitlyn, Brittany, Madisyn; nephews, Andrew, Christian, Tyler, Colby; and her beloved pets schnauzers, Max and Reece. She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Earl and Gladys Alcorn; paternal grandparents, Lawrence M. Downey, Sr. and Lorelle Downey; as well as a brother-in-law, Mike Dumonceau. Dee was a world ranked and world class Jet Skier and a master scuba diver. While in college she played lacrosse for Towson University in Maryland. She later moved to Key West where she was a coach/teacher. She enjoyed traveling, boating, playing pickle-ball and spending time with her family and friends. A celebration of life will be announced for Myrtle Beach and Maryland as soon as those arrangements are complete. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made in Dee’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
