About Shane Hood Obituary
Webb "Shane" Hood, 67, entered into Eternal rest on Friday, July 18, 2025, with his family by his side, at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Though his family and friends rejoice that he is no longer in pain, he will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was born on September 1, 1957, in Cheverly, Maryland, to his parents Philip and Leigh Hood (née Greaser). Shane honorably served the community for 26 years as a Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician with the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD), Rural/Metro Corporation, and City of Knoxville Fire Department (KFD), until his retirement in 2019.

Shane is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Margaret Greaser, and sister Tracey Hood Correll. He is survived and missed by both parents; his loving wife, Debbi (née Gennoe), of 39 years; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeremiah (Sara), Joel, and Casey (Keisha); and one daughter and one son-in-law, Brandi (Matthew). He will be forever cherished and remembered by his 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Shane attended Southern High School in Maryland but is a 1976 graduate of West Green High School and the KFD Academy and completed Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) training through Walters State Community College. In his youth, he enjoyed riding motocross with his father, and more recently, loved camping with his family and watching drag racing. You could be sure he is throwing darts or playing pool in heaven with his family. During his 26 years of dedicated service to the community, Shane earned the recognition of Firefighter of the Year (twice) and Officer of the Year (once) at the SVFD, and advanced to the rank of Captain in both the SVFD and KFD.

His legacy will carry on forever, reminding us of a "well-served" and "well-lived" life. Shane chose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department (encouraged) in lieu of flowers: https://www.mygiving.net/v1/Support-SeymourVFD. The donations will go toward continuing his legacy of and passion for service to others.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30th, 2025, with the Funeral Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. officiated by KFD Chaplain Captain Paul Trumpore, which will include the KFD Honor Guard and a "Last Bell" service, in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel, 122 Peacock Ct, Seymour, TN 37865.
