About Carroll Eugene Crum, age 68, of Keymar died Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Frederick Health Hospital. Born June 15, 1954 in Frederick, he was the son of the late George and Frances Moser Crum. He was the husband of Doris Rippeon Crum, whom he married on July 11, 1981 at Utica Lutheran Church.

He was a graduate of Walkersville High School, class of 1972. After graduation he worked on the family farm until 1975 where he started as a mechanic working at Ceresville Motor Co., now Ceresville New Holland, working through 1995. He then was employed with ESSROC materials as a mobile equipment technician until 2008. In 2009 he started with Altec Industries as a service technician working on aerial devises and overhead lift trucks. Over the years Carroll repaired farm and industrial tractors, self-propelled equipment, quarry loaders, trucks and excavators. He held numerous certifications in Ford Tractor and New Holland, as well as the Hydraulic Fluid Power Society. He earned the Top Wrench Award in 2012 at Altec Frederick Service Center where he retired from in 2019.

He enjoyed helping at the fundraisers and was elected as fireman of the year in 1986. Carroll was inducted in the Frederick Co. Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association Hall of Fame in April 2014.

He enjoyed repairing farm and antique tractors, and often repaired tractors for his neighbors. He owned a Farmall Super C and took pride in keeping it in great condition. He was an avid reader of tractor magazines, his favorite being Red Power, that he read from cover to cover. He was a Red Cross blood donor, having donated over 46 pints.

Carroll had a great sense of humor. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and went on many bus trips. His enjoyment came from helping others and spending time with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed family picnics and Christmas with the Moser's. Carroll enjoyed going to eat on Saturday mornings with his breakfast group and the Walkersville Elementary Lunch Bunch.
