About | Daniel Leon Eppley, 63, of Middletown, went Home to the Lord on October 5, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Peggy Eppley, his wife of 20 years. Born Aug. 5, 1951 in Walkersville, he was the son of the late Carlton S. and Edith L. Eppley. He graduated from Walkersville High School and attended the University of Maryland. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1967 – 1971. Daniel was a carpenter by trade, and he recently retired from Ft. Detrick after 23 years of service. He enjoyed working on his own home, and making all kinds of things, including furniture, clocks, all sorts of Christmas presents, and was said to have the best deck in Middletown. He always took care of those around him, and put their needs ahead of his own. In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by an infant brother, Allen Eppley. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two children, Jason Eppley (Teresa) of Frederick, Joshua Eppley (Heidi) of Walkersville, and three stepchildren, Michael Frayler (Geralyn) of Washingtonville, NY, Jason Frayler (Judy Wiles) of Waynesboro, PA, and William Caputo; a brother, Donald Eppley (Anne) of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren, Casey and Charlee; and several nieces, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, October 8th at Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Rd. (Rt. 17 S), Middletown, MD 21769 (301)473-4800.
