About Obituary for David Robert Davis
Farmville…………………………… David Robert Davis of Farmville, NC passed away August 15, 2018. Dave is survived by his wife of 49 years Eunice Noble Davis, daughters Suzanne Davis Yester and Melissa Davis, and grandsons Jake Yester and Jason Davis. In addition, he is survived by a brother, Thomas Davis and wife Marie of Oxford, Maryland, a sister, Mary Allen-Farmer of Frederick, Maryland, brothers in law, Robert Noble and wife Veronica of Raleigh, Michael Sutton of Ayden, and sister in law Doris Noble of Raleigh. Dave also leaves behind a bonus daughter Shirley Rhodes, former son in law Michael Yester, special friend David Rich, and beloved pup-son Hashtag.
Dave was preceded in death by his youngest daughter Heather Davis, his parents Herman and Barbara Davis, parents in law George and Pauline Noble, brother Donald Davis, brothers in law Charles Allen, Norm Farmer, and Barry Noble, and sisters in law Shirley Davis and Rachel Sutton.
Dave was born in Maryland. He graduated from Walkersville High School and joined the Marine Corp where he served our country during the Vietnam War. During his final year of service, he met Eunice, and they married on June 1, 1969. Initially they made their home in Greenville, NC, moving to Farmville, NC when Dave took a position with the Farmville Police Department. Dave also served Farmville for many years as a volunteer member of the Farmville Rescue Squad retiring in the early 1990s. Throughout this time he was also a talented photographer.
During his later career, Dave served as the top salesman for Flowers Bread Company and worked diligently as the “breadman” in Winterville. Dave became an avid golfer and loved to support the ECU Pirates football and baseball programs. Throughout his life, Dave was involved in several organizations including being a charter member of the Farmville Jaycees, a member of the Farmville American Legion, and a member of the local Woodmen of the World lodge.
Although Dave was known to speak his mind no matter his surroundings, he was passionate about a few things including his love for his wife, Eunice and his girls. He loved each of them in his own special way. Dave was elated to have 2 grandsons that became the light of his world. In the last few years his companion, Hashtag, became his pride and joy as they would spend time together keeping each other company.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Mandy Starbuck and her team and to the Farmville Rescue Squad. We would also like to say how much we appreciate the care that was provided to him by the staff at Vidant during this last week. Finally we would like to thank everyone for their acceptance of requests for privacy and prayers during this last part of his illness.
A visitation will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Farmville Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Farmville Funeral Home at 2 pm on Saturday, August 25, 2018.
