About | David Thomas Craddock, age 63, of Leonardtown, Maryland, passed on Friday, July 1, 2016. David grew up in Walkersville, the son of Lucie H. Craddock of Walkersville, and Raymond R. Craddock, now deceased. He graduated in 1971 from Walkersville High School, and from Frederick Community College with a degree in liberal arts. He later moved to Leonardtown, where he met and married Margaret Kalloch Craddock Dexter. He and Maggie raised two sons, Mitchell R. Craddock (a student at Texas A&M University) and Nicholas B. Craddock (a graduate of the Seafarers Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship), both of whom David was extremely proud. His greatest joys were his sons...he loved being a father. David is also survived by his sister, Kristine D. Craddock, of Walkersville. David worked for Wyle Laboratories in Lexington Park, Maryland, and retired as a department manager after almost forty years of employment. David was a great outdoorsman, and spent his time fishing and crabbing. David loved animals, and "Big Dan," his basset hound, was his constant companion. He was an extremely private man, set in his ways, and he loved to cook and try new restaurants. He was an advocate of healthy eating and exercise. David loved making people laugh and was known for his relatable demeanor and humorous charm. A memorial service will be held in the fall for David. Please make donations to your favorite charity in David's name. He will always be held in our hearts and will be forever missed. Published Online in The Frederick News-Post from July 7 to July 8, 2016 David Thomas Craddock, 63, passed away in his sleep Friday evening, July 1, 2016, at his Leonardtown residence. He leaves behind his two sons, Mitchell Craddock and Nicholas Craddock; his mother, Lucie Craddock; his sister, Christina Craddock; and many close friends. Born in Clinton Kentucky, Mr. Craddock was the only son of Raymond and Lucie Craddock. At a young age, he relocated with his family to Frederick Maryland where he graduated from Walkersville High School, then later as an adult from Frederick Community College with a degree in liberal arts. In 1977, with his newly earned college education, Mr. Craddock took a job in graphic design for the government contractor “Veda”, located in Lexington Park Maryland. He remained with the company for almost 40 years as it changed hands and shifted to “Veridian Engineering”, then “Wyle Laboratories”. Mr. Craddock was passionate about his work and became the company’s “go to” man for any special projects, which quickly earned him the senior position of Production Department Manager where he expertly directed his own team of professionals and directly contributed to the company’s success. It was also while working for Veda he met his wife of 25 years, Margaret Kalloch, and together they raised their two sons, Mitchell and Nicholas. Mr. Craddock especially loved being a father and enjoyed staying active with his children. He served as both a mentor and a role model, but most of all, a loving dad. Because his home was situated near the banks of the Potomac River, Mr. Craddock would often take both of his sons fishing and crabbing, which ultimately became his favorite pastime. Even after his children grew up and left home, Mr. Craddock played an active and encouraging role in their lives. Mr. Craddock was most remembered for his ability to win over people’s hearts. He loved making people laugh and, although looked upon as a leader, was known for his relatable demeanor and humorous charm; he truly had the ability to light up anybody’s day. David Thomas Craddock was a loyal son, a devoted husband, and a loving father. He will be missed dearly. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., at the Historical Congressional Cemetery, 1801 E Street SE, Washington, DC 20003.
