Graduation Year Class of 1972
Date of Birth Jan 14, 2026
Date of Passing Dec 14, 1954
About Ellis R. Stevens, 71, of Walkersville, Maryland passed away unexpectedly while at home on the 14th of January 2026. He was born on December 14th, 1954, the only son of Paul and Charlotte Mae (Turner) Stevens.

After graduating from Walkersville High School, he was employed by the Eastalco Aluminum Company for 30 years as a maintenance mechanic. Throughout his life, he offered a friendly face to everyone. He never hesitated to introduce himself to someone new and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed his help. As a fan of Little League baseball, he served his community in Thurmont by coaching the Rangers over many seasons in the 1980's and 90's, taking the team to the Tournament of Champions. Late in life he spent his time working as a handyman at Daybreak Adult Day Services, and he cherished the community he found with the participants, who motivated him every day.

He is survived by his two sons, Jason and Cody, who he was immensely proud of; as well as his best friend and partner-in-life, Debbie; sisters Paulette Hooper and Nancy Elliott and brothers-in-law Bob Hooper, Harry Elliott, and George Hines, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Fern Hines.

A viewing will be held from 3-7 PM on Monday, January 19th, 2025, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, MD.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 20th, at the funeral home, with Pastor Melissa Helfer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Daybreak Adult Day Care, 7819 Rocky Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
