| About | Mr. Gary Wayne Carey Sr., 56, of New Market, died Monday, Jan. 6, at University of Maryland Medical Center. Born Dec. 6, 1946, in Sandy Hook, he was the son of Virgie Reynolds Carey of Hagerstown, and the late George M. Carey. Mr. Carey graduated from Walkersville High School in 1964. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1967, and worked as a plumber for many years before beginning his career as a truck driver and later a chauffeur. Surviving in addition to his mother are one sister, Bonita Kolb of Hagerstown; one son, Gary W. Carey Jr. and wife Linda of Frederick; two grandchildren, Greg and Loralee Carey, both of Frederick; one nephew, Denny Kolb Jr. of Cascade; and one niece, Renee Setters of Williamsport. Mr. Carey also will be remembered by his longtime companion, Mary Streams of New Market, and his former wife, Louise Wachter of Frederick, whom he married in 1966. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Robert L. Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry, W.Va. Inurnment will be in Samples Manor Cemetery, near Harpers Ferry. Flowers will be accepted at Resthaven Memorial Gardens or, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Services, Frederick.
