| About | Harold Wayne Offutt Birth: 1 Dec 1956 Death: 20 Jun 1974 (aged 17) Mount Hope Cemetery Woodsboro, Frederick County, Maryland A recent graduate of Walkersville High School drowned while swimming with friends at Lake Linganore Thursday afternoon. Harold Wayne Offutt, 17, of Glade Road, Walkersville, and four companions were attempting to swim from the east side of the lake near the dam to the western shore when the incident occurred, state police said. Offutt, according to his friends, was the last one in and after swimming approximately 40 feet began calling for help. Offutt's friends, Michael Staley of Woodsboro, James DeGrange of Walkersville, Randy Kline of Frederick, and Walter Isennok of Randallstown, attempted to save him, however they were unable to hold onto him. Offutt, a June graduate of Walkersville High School, was a member of the track and soccer teams. |
