James William Cramer Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1966
Date of Passing Apr 01, 2013
About James William Cramer, Sr. was born May 29, 1948 to parents Edward L Cramer, Sr. and Kathleen Harriet Cramer in Frederick MD. At a young age Jim moved to Mt. Pleasant, MD. There he would find his "thousand acre backyard" where he loved to hunt, fish, and "roam the land". Jim graduated Walkersville High School in 1966 where he participated in soccer, basketball, and track. Upon graduation Jim enlisted in the US Army, where he deployed to Vietnam ("sunny southeast Asia") from Jan. 1, 1968 to Jan. 1, 1969. Jim attended FCC for 2 years prior to his employment with Montgomery County as a Master Firefighter. His employment of 33 ½ years with Montgomery County would take him across the Country serving with the Collapse Rescue Team (FEMA) providing aide after the bombing of the Edward Murrah Building in Oklahoma City and several hurricanes. Jim retired from the Fire Service in 2003. In addition to Jim's excursions in the outdoors he enjoyed coaching soccer teams for both GVAA and The Banner School. After being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007, he succumbed to the disease on April 1, 2013.

Jim is survived by his wife, Judy, of 34 years. He is further survived by his children: Stephanie Boyer, Shannon Humphreys-Speth (Norm), Lauren Cramer, and James Cramer, Jr. (Alexis); his brother, Edward Cramer Jr., and sister Carol Ann. Grandchildren include: Connor and Skylar, Morgan and Colton, Caleb, Jadyn and Grandad's little helper: Marley, and Grand-dog Covey.

The Cramer family would like to thank the Cancer Center Staff at John Hopkins' Hospital, the Hospice of Frederick County (especially Matt and Gena), and friends and family for their love and care. The Family would like extend a special thank you to Kevin Kim for always being there.

Friends will be received on Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 4-8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E.
