| About | Mr. John "Trego" Zimmerman, Sr., 83 of Walkersville, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Shirley Duvall Zimmerman. They were married for 53 years. Born August 29, 1929 in Frederick, Maryland he was the son of the late Clayborne M. and Annie McKinney Zimmerman. Trego was a 1946 graduate of Walkersville High School. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Walkersville Vol. Fire Company where he served as past Chief. He was also a member of the Walkersville Rescue Company, Frederick County Farm Bureau, and Glade Valley Grange. He was a past member of the Capitol Milk Producers and a member of the Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers and the National Milk Bottle Club. Trego was a past director of the F&M Bank in Walkersville and a past director of the Southern States Frederick Petroleum. He was the past president of the Glade Cemetery Board and was also a caretaker of the cemetery. He enjoyed taking trips with his wife to many states and to Europe. He also enjoyed his trips to Charles Town. He was an avid collector of milk bottles and milking memorabilia. He also enjoyed collecting coins and watching NASCAR. Trego was a lifelong dairy farmer and President of Auburn Farms, Inc. He loved the farm and cultivating the land. He was a great man with quick wit and dashing dimples. He thoroughly treasured his large family and watching them enjoy life. In addition to his loving wife Shirley he is survived by six children, John T. Zimmerman, Jr. and wife Debbie, Michael L. Zimmerman and fiancé Paula, Faye Z. Fogle and Greg, Clay A. Zimmerman and wife Karen, Jane Z. Susi and husband Mark and Jeffrey L. Zimmerman and wife Christina; Grandchildren: John III, Jayme, Jenna, Patrick, Clayton, Ryan, Logan, Tory, Kelsey, Connor, Clayborne, Kristin, Derrick, Bryce, Grant, Conor, Garrett, Piper, Madison and Kylie; Great grandchildren: Aubrey, Caleb, Johnny IV and Josie. He will also be remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Z. Cooper. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10th at the Glade United Church of Christ, 21 Fulton Ave., Walkersville from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday, May 11th at 10:00 am with The Rev. Philip N. Curran officiating. Interment will be in Glade Cemetery, Walkersville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the J. Trego and Shirley D.
