| About | Larry Ray Marshall, 80, of Hedgesville, WV, transitioned into heaven on April 22, 2026. Larry was born on February 23, 1946 to William and Thelma Marshall in Hillsville, Virginia. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, with whom he would have celebrated 41 years of marriage in May. He is also survived by his children Tanya Poillucci (Mike) of St. Simons Island, GA; Curtis Marshall (Laura) of Richmond, VA; grandchildren Logan (Hayley), Garett (Emily), Maria, Patrick, Camille, Sean, Declan; great grandson Patton; his sister Bonnie Hemler (Joe); his sister-in-law Ann Morgan; his brother-in-law Randy Shifler; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother Dale Marshall (Sharon); his sister Angela Shifler; his niece Tracy Corun; and his best friend Warren ("Warnie") Main. He spent his younger years in the Blue Ridge mountains where he developed a deep and lifelong love of nature and the outdoors. His family moved to Frederick, MD where he attended Walkersville High School, graduating in the class of 1964. After high school, he enlisted in the Army with the assignment of Parachute Rigger in what was then the 11th Airborne Division. He earned his jump wings and completed a total of 44 paratrooper jumps while serving in Germany. Earning his wings and serving his country were among his proudest achievements, evidenced by his infamous red hat and paratrooper tattoo. After his military service, Larry worked for Eastalco for over 31 years. He met his beautiful wife, Marilyn, when he was cast as an apostle in a reenactment of the last supper at his church. They married at the same church the next year and loved spending time with cherished family and friends, including at their second home on the Potomac River. Larry was a fierce advocate of the Second Amendment and was a certified hunter safety instructor for the MD Department of Natural Resources. He taught hundreds of students over several decades of volunteer service. Larry was a deeply devoted husband, father, papa, great-papa and friend to all who knew him. His legacy includes instilling in his children and grandchildren a strong work ethic, a love of the outdoors and an enduring faith. If you were lucky enough to know Larry and his mischievous smile, then you were loved deeply and dearly by him. Services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 400 Main Street, Myersville, MD 21773 with visitation beginning at 10:00am, a funeral service at 11:00am and reception to follow.
