About | Mr. Lawrence ""Tommy"" Allen Dorsey, Jr. 72 a lifelong resident of Woodsboro, Maryland passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at College View Nursing Home. Born September 11, 1942 in Frederick, Maryland he was the son of the late Lawrence A. Dorsey, Sr. and Pauline Bussard Dorsey. He was a member of the Woodsboro Lutheran Church. Tommy was a graduate of Walkersville High School class of 1961 where he previously served as President and Past President of the Alumni Association. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland and his Juris Doctor form the University of Virginia Law School. He served in the United States Army and was discharged on June 9, 1974. Tommy served as the State's Attorney from 1983-1995, Deputy State's Attorney from 1971-1983 and was in private law practice from 1969-1971 and 1995-2005. In his earlier years Tommy was very active in the community and with many organizations. He served on the Mental Health Advisory Committee, the United Way Board and the YMCA Board of Directors where he was an advisor for 27 years. He was also a member of the Frederick Jaycees, Frederick Toastmasters Club and the Rotary Club of Frederick. He is survived by his uncle, Carroll Ray Dorsey and wife Dottie, cousins, Michael Dorsey and wife Linda, Ronald Dorsey and wife Diane, Carroll Gaver and wife Sandy, Harold Shorb and wife Becky, Lynn Sherald and husband James and Diane Dobmeir and numerous second cousins. He will be missed dearly by his beloved cats Tinker and Pumpkin. He is preceded in death by his sister, Doris Remsberg. The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Sunday, March 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral services will be held at the Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church, 101 South Main Street, Woodsboro on Monday, March 23rd at 11:00AM with Rev. Kathryn Rohrbach and Rev. C. Dahl Drenning officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Woodsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the Doris Dorsey Remsberg memorial fund at Monocacy Foundation, the Frederick YMCA or to Woodsboro Lutheran Church.
