Luke Daniel Poole Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1998
Date of Passing Dec 24, 2016
About Luke Daniel Poole, age 37, of Woodsboro, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born November 26, 1979 in Frederick, he was the son of Connie Rippeon Eyler of Woodsboro and the late Larry Poole. He was the stepson of Herb Eyler.

As a child, Luke was active in youth sports and Cub Scouts Pack 1069. He was a 1998 graduate of Walkersville High School and attended York Technical Institute. He worked as a mason with Harry Poole Sr. Masonry Contractors Inc. Luke was a huge sports fan, always rooting for winners such as Jeff Gordon, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. His competing ways extended to fishing as he had to be the one to pull in the largest catch. But Luke's ultra-competitive nature belied what a large and kind heart he had. He was an enormous helping hand to his families in caring for his grandparents in their later years. He never turned down a request for help when a strong back was needed. He was a member of Grace Rocky Hill Lutheran Church and his work at their church festivals will be sincerely missed by the ladies in the kitchen. Luke's final act of generosity was becoming an organ donor through The Living Legacy Foundation where he will continue to be a help to others.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by maternal grandmother, Emma Jane Rippeon of Mt. Airy, paternal grandmother, Doris Poole of Union Bridge; a brother, Douglas L. Poole of Woodsboro who will greatly miss Luke; uncles and aunts, Harry Poole Jr., Dennis and Kathy Poole, Kathy and Jerry Baker, Mike and Linda Poole, Jimmy and Mandy Poole, David and Laura Poole, Teresa and Darwin Wells, Maureen and John Legore , John Poole, Lisa and Glenn Potts, Jenny and Mike Cevario, David Rippeon, Charles Rippeon Jr. and Debbie Rippeon and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by grandfathers, Harry Poole Sr. and Charles Rippeon Sr.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31 at Rocky Hill Lutheran Church, 10925 Coppermine Rd., with Rev. Matthew Beers, church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, 5-8 p.m. Friday, December 30.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Living Legacy Foundation, attn: Ann Bromery, 1730 Twin Springs Rd., Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21227 or to Rocky Hill Lutheran Church, c/o Mary Ritchie, 11122 Renner Rd., Woodsboro, MD 21798.
