About Margaret Elizabeth Dougherty, 92, of Walkersville died, Saturday May 10, 2014, at home.

Born Nov. 30, 1921, in Keymar, she was the youngest daughter of Charles M. and Annie Speak Stitely. She was the wife of Charles H. Dougherty, who died Feb. 25, 2000, after 58 years of marriage.

She was a 1938 graduate of Walkersville High School. She was a former member of Haughs Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Ladiesburg, and also later a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Walkersville.

She was a charter/life member of the Walkersville Rescue Company where she was an EMT. She was also a life member of the Walkersville Fire Company, and served as chaplain for both companies. She helped create the bingo program and served as co-chairwoman for many years. She was also a member of the Walkersville Senior Citizens.

Surviving are daughter Lois Schroyer and husband Austin, of Walkersville; sons Ronald Dougherty, of Taneytown, Harold Dougherty and wife Linda, of Libertytown, Stuart Dougherty and fiancee Deb Thompson, of Hagerstown, and Mark Dougherty and wife Susan, of West Virginia; grandchildren Heath Schroyer, Heidi Criswell, Bradley Dougherty, Amanda Parsons, Elizabeth Dougherty, Michael Dougherty, Charles Dougherty, Jason Smith and Jessica Smith; and great-grandchildren Carson, Cameryn, Sierra, Hayden, Sydney, Savana, Mackenzie, Maisie and Cannan.

She was predeceased by sisters Hellen Wantz and Besie Dougherty; and brothers Kenneth and Charles Stitely.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark L. Foucart officiating. Interment will be at Mount Zion Haughs Cemetery near Ladiesburg.
