About Mary Ann Carter, 68, of Wayne, also of Mount Savage, Md., passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
Born in Mount Savage, on Feb. 9, 1951, she was the daughter of Joseph V. Carter, of Mount Savage, and the late Virginia (Haus) Carter.
Mary Ann was a graduate of Mount Savage High School, class of 1968. Following high school, Mary Ann graduated from Mount St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology. Mary Ann was a Biology teacher in Walkersville, for several years. Later, she followed her vocation and joined the Daughters of Charity Religious Order. As a former Daughter of Charity, Mary Ann was the Regional Vice President of Catholic Health East. Then, Mary Ann became the Vice President of Mission Services at the Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. She retired from that position in 2017. During her hospital administration career, Mary Ann furthered her education by receiving two Master's degrees. She remained an alumna for the Daughters of Charity.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her brother, Joseph W. Carter and wife Catherine; and her niece, Kristen Carter, Arlington, Va.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD, on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m.. The Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home 7:45 p.m.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mount Savage, Md., on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that those who would like to honor Mary Ann's memory may do so by making contributions to the Alhambra Invitation Tournament, P.O.
