About | Mrs. Mary Frances (Clem) Shafer, 80, of Walkersville, died on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Autumn Lake Healthcare of Glade Valley following a short illness. She was the wife of the late Robert William Shafer Sr. Born on April 2, 1944, in Liberty she was the daughter of the late Melvin Clem and his wife Helen (Smith) Clem. She graduated from Walkersville High School in 1962. She also worked for the Frederick News Post for a while. She spent most of her time watching Capitols Hockey, College football and Auto racing. The greatest joy in her life was spending time with her family. Surviving is her son Emory William "Billy" Shafer of Thurmont; four grandchildren, Ashley Lewis and her husband Michael, Deverule Shafer, Kristen Shafer, and Bradley Shafer and his wife Maria; 3 Great Grandchildren Oliviyah Pickard, Rylee Lewis, Isabelle Shafer and Jessie Arm and one sister, Kay (Clem) Corun of Idaho Falls, Idaho; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. Mary was predeceased by one son Robert William "Bobby" Shafer, Jr., her sister Doris Virginia (Clem) Blank, father-in-law Emory William "Reds" Shafer, mother-in-law Alice (Holt) Shafer. As per Mary's wishes, no service will be held. |
