About Maxine Eleanor Trout Murray, 91, of Woodsboro, died Friday, April 29, 2011 surrounded by loved ones at Heartfields of Frederick. Born February15, 1920 in Walkersville, she was the daughter of the late G. Cleveland and Perla Pyle Trout. She was the wife of the late Maurice "Chip" Murray, who predeceased her in 2003. Mrs. Murray was a 1937 graduate of Walkersville High School and a 1941 graduate of the University of Maryland. She was employed by the Frederick County Board of Education, teaching at Libertytown and Frederick High Schools and retiring from Walkersville High School. She was an active member of Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church. She served as the first president of the Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and Woodsboro American Legion Auxiliary and was a charter member of both. She also served as president of the Frederick County Physical Education Teacher Association and held membership in the KKI Teacher Sorority, Frederick County Retired Teachers Association and Maryland Retired Teachers Association. She was the former secretary and treasurer of the Woodsboro Mount Hope Cemetery Board. In 1987 Maxine was inducted into the YMCA Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of her outstanding career as a coach and physical education teacher. During her 25- year tenure, she proudly led the Walkersville High School's tennis team to eight consecutive undefeated seasons, five MVAL titles, and four district state championships. Her enjoyments in life were, first and foremost, her family; sports, especially tennis and golf; dancing, and lunches with "The Good Time Girls". She was an avid reader and an enthusiastic card player who hated to lose! Maxine became a resident of Heartfields Assisted Living Facility in July, 2009 where she made many loving friends. Maxine was eternally grateful for the love and care she received from the entire dedicated staff at Heartfields. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Sherman Broka of Alexandria, VA, Peggy and Ed Esworthy of Walkersville; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Michelle Murray of West Palm Beach, Fla., William and Diane Murray of Crofton; nine grandchildren and spouses, Eddy Esworthy, Tripp and Amy Macdonald, Derek Broka and Devon White, Danielle and Oliver Albers, Sara and Robert Saliby, Mike Murray, Kayd Moore, Mike Moore and Matthew Murray; great granddaughter, Juniper; and brother, Nelson E. Trout of Frederick. She is also survived by many relatives, including a devoted niece, Elaine Marshall, special cousin, Libby Trout and her dear friend and faithful "sidekick", Louise Lind. She was predeceased by brothers, Bill, Joe, Arthur, Gilmore, Harold, Elwood and Meredith; and sisters, Lillian Hummer and Pauline Whitmore. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, on Tuesday, May 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where the Glenn W. Eyler American Legion Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dorothy Lundgren, her pastor, officiating. Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Woodsboro Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O.
