| About | Melvin Eugene Lochner, born September 6, 1952, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at his home, with his loving wife by his side. Mel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was the beloved husband of Linda Sweeney Lochner, loving father to Cheri Gorman and Kevin Sweeney, and a proud grandfather to Jessica Darner and Kristina Sweeney (Wife Amber) as well as great-grandsons Skyler and Lane. His beloved fur babies—Blake, Babette, Benny, Zoey, and Tasha– who also held a special place in his heart. Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Margaret Lochner; his sister, Denise Lochner; sister-in-law Veronica Lochner; and his first wife, Alethea Lochner. He is survived by his siblings, Judy Burrier (Husband Herald), Johnny Lochner and Allen Lochner (Wife Carole), along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Mel was a hardworking man who spent many years as a tractor-trailer driver and heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed motorcycles, traveling, class reunions, and spending time with lifelong friends, including Gary Grossnickle. After retirement, he returned to Maryland and later worked alongside his longtime friend, Rick Stine, and his son, Richie. Mel loved making memories with his family, especially attending the Rocky Hill Strawberry Festival, Rocky Ridge Carnival, and riding through the mountains with his wife, Linda. Mel will always be remembered for his big heart, his love of family and friends, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. A celebration of Mel’s life will be announced at a later date. |
