About Michael A. Hombach, 50, of Walkersville, Maryland, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 26, 2024, following a courageous months-long battle with Cardiac Amyloidosis.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Marisa, and his three sons, David, Jonathan and Benjamin; his mother and father, Patricia and Michael L. Hombach; his in-laws Sherri and David Bowman; his brother Matthew and sister-in-law Leslie along with his niece Anna and nephew William.

Michael was a longstanding and active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Frederick.

Michael earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Elizabethtown College and his Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland. He enjoyed a 24-year career as a school administrator for Frederick County Public Schools, including his role as an Assistant Principal at Urbana High School and most recently as an Assistant Principal at Walkersville High School. In addition, he was a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical counseling individual clients for more than two decades. He cared about people and touched hundreds and hundreds of students' lives throughout his career.

Michael cherished his family and spending time with them in all settings, particularly in the outdoors. Boating and water-skiing trips on the Magothy River, family trips to Rehoboth Beach and various outdoor pursuits at his family property near Ski Roundtop were a big part of his life. He was passionate about cutting, splitting, stacking and burning firewood in his woodstoves or at campfires for family and friends. He also was a lifelong learner and avid reader.

Michael's family wishes to thank the team at The Johns Hopkins Hospital Cardiac Care Unit for the comfort and amazing care they gave to him.

The family will host a time of visitation on Saturday, November 9 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church at 703 West Patrick Street in Frederick, MD.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 10 at 1 p.m. at Coffman Chapel on the campus of Hood College in Frederick, MD.

Following the service, the family will host a reception and time of fellowship and sharing at Walkersville Volunteer Fire Department at 79 West Frederick Street in Walkersville, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Michael A. Hombach Scholarship Fund that will benefit Frederick County Public School Students.
