About | Nancy Lee Eaves, 72, of Keymar, MD, peacefully passed from this life on September 9, 2024 at BridgingLife Dove Hospice House in Westminster, MD, following an illness of several months. Nancy was born on August 8, 1952 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the sixth and youngest child of the late Paul Ellsworth Eaves and Louise Virginia Kelly Eaves. She is survived by Ray Beall, her long-time partner of nearly 50 years; four siblings, Glenn Ellsworth Eaves Sr. and wife Jean of Woodsboro, MD, Carroll Eugene Eaves and wife Rosalie of Taneytown, MD, Paul Edward Eaves of Frederick, MD and Ann Elizabeth Eaves Reed of Hagerstown, MD; many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and sister-in-law, Rita Eaves of Grantham, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Louise Eaves; grandparents, Raymond and Belva Kelly, Thomas and Florence Eaves; brother, Kenneth Wayne Eaves; and a sister-in-law, Frances Adams Eaves. Nancy's large family lived on a dairy farm near Mountaindale until she was about 8 years old when they moved to a farm in Walkersville. The many connections made in Walkersville remain an important part of the Eaves family history. Nancy was a 1970 graduate of Walkersville High School. She later worked at Cambridge Rubber Factory in Taneytown; for her brother Carroll's nursery, Sunny Bank Farm in Taneytown; Southern States in Woodsboro; as well as Glade Feed and Supply in Keymar. Early on, she had a small business in Thurmont called Gateway Creations, which included creating various types of sweatshirts. She was probably best known for her time spent at Mountain Gate Restaurant in Thurmont where she was very proud of her work at keeping the buffet clean and full of delicious food, and where she made many friends. For many years she would leave the restaurant late at night, get some sleep and get up to take on her role as bookkeeper/secretary for her brother Glenn's large farm in New Midway. She enjoyed working with crafts and ceramics, searching for a yard sale and setting up her own tables for a sale. She would often be seen at the gravesites of her parents in Glade Cemetery, cleaning up and decorating depending on the season. The family is very pleased that Nancy can rest eternally near her parents in Glade Cemetery. Nancy's family would like to thank her nieces Tammie Eaves and Sheri Beall and the staff at the following facilities for the care provided to her during these past several months: Frederick Health Hospital, Lorien in Taneytown, Carroll Hospital Center and BridgingLife Dove House in Westminster. A visitation will be held at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. Pastor Gene Cregger will officiate. Interment will follow in Glade Cemetery, Walkersville. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Nancy, please visit our Tree Store. |
