About Nevin Eugene "Butch" Cline, Jr,.64, passed away on June 10, 2013, after a hard-fought and brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on October 21, 1949, to parents Nevin Eugene Cline, Sr. and Dorothy Ford Cline. He was the eldest of six children.

Shortly after graduating from Walkersville High School in 1967, he was deployed to Vietnam in 1969. There, he proudly fought in the U.S. Army, eventually becoming a rifle expert and sniper as well as commander and sergeant of his infantry unit. He earned the respect and admiration of his fellow soldiers and commanding officers, receiving multiple commendations and awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, a Purple Heart, a Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. His honor, exceptional judgment, dependability, bearing, and enthusiasm that were recognized by his infantry unit and commanders were the hallmark of his character throughout his life.

He worked for R.W. Warner from 1975 until his passing. During those 38 years, he became a trusted source of guidance and knowledge for generations of employees. He truly loved his job, which was a source of great pride for him.

A man of eternal faith and conviction, he was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Libertytown.

Nevin was a devoted family man, friend, and employee, always lending a helping hand and a smile to whomever called upon him. He was the emotional and spiritual rock of his family, and with his patience and wisdom he taught us how to be better people. The true measure of

Nevin's life is the love he left behind. Nevin was predeceased by his father, mother, brother Mike, and sister Debbie. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathie; his daughter, Stacy Boyer and husband Michael Boyer; his granddaughter, Eikaiva Boyer; stepdaughters Lindsey Weeks and husband Sean Weeks, and Kim Schaltegger and husband Zach Schaltegger and their son Andrew. He is further survived by his sister Brenda Cramer, sister Cindy West (husband Ronnie West), and brother Bob Cline (companion Carol Moore Servacek).

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Frederick Memorial Hospital and the nurses and nursing aides at Kline Hospice House for the love and care they provided.

Friends will be received on Thursday, June 13, 2013, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
