About Nita Beth Gross, of Gettysburg, died peacefully at home October 23, 2024, at the age of 70. Nita will be remembered for her warmth, generosity and love for family, friends, colleagues and all who knew her. Born March 25, 1954, in Red Lion, PA, she grew up mainly in Walkersville, MD and was the daughter of the late Richard and Betty (Curran) Winn. Nita was the devoted wife of Douglas Gross of Gettysburg, PA with whom he shared 50 wonderful years. Nita was also a loving mother to her son Tim and his wife Stephanie, and her two grandchildren Will and Lily, all of Ijamsville MD. She was a graduate of Frederick Community College and a dedicated registered nurse. Nita spent a brief time at Sinai hospital in Baltimore MD, followed by 41 years at The Gettysburg Hospital in numerous capacities, including critical care, surgical services, endoscopy, cardiology and general care capacities. Nita was an active member of the Gettysburg United Methodist Church, including involvement with the church counsel, handbell choir, and leading the safe sanctuary program. In addition, she was active in the Barlow- Greenmount Homemakers. She enjoyed spending her spare time at the beach in Surfside, SC with her family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 11AM at the Gettysburg United Methodist Church at 30 West High St., Gettysburg, PA 17325, with visitation beginning at 10 AM prior to the service. The family also will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg at 125 Carlisle St. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gettysburg United Methodist Church, Gettysburg PA, 17325.
