About | Orvey James William McBride, 58, of Gettysburg, PA, died on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at his home following a long illness. Born July 9, 1962 in Frederick, MD, he was the son of the late James William and Myrtle Marie (Redmond) McBride. He was the long-time companion and fiancé of Lori Flickinger of Gettysburg, PA. Orvey was a graduate of Walkersville High School, class of 1980. He worked in construction and was employed by various area companies. He enjoyed, hunting, fishing, going to tractor pulls, working with plastic canvas, and collecting train sets and matchbox-size John Deere tractors. He loved his pets and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to his fiancé Lori, are his 4 children, Nicole McBride and fiancé Nicholas McKenzie of Charles Town, WV, Erin McBride of Charlestown, WV, Matthew McBride and fiancé Adriana McGaha of Gettysburg, PA, and Jessica McBride of Gettysburg, PA; brother, James Orvey Williams McBride and wife Wanda of Ladiesburg; sisters, Frances Haycock of Frederick, and Bonnie Dixon and husband George of Sykesville; grandchildren, Haidin McKenzie and Nataliee Loveless; niece, Kimberly Hodge; nephew, Gary Wolfe, great-niece, Jaimie Hodge; and great-great-nephew, Mason Kegley. Orvey is also remembered by special friends, Teresa Rhodes, Lewis Hahn, Jr., Jim Fogle, and Genevieve Leonard, as well as numerous cousins and many other friends. He was predeceased by a niece, Luvinnia Kemp and a nephew, Edward Wolfe. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD 21787. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, which will be followed by a gathering at the New Midway Fire Department at approximately 2:15 p.m. All in attendance are encouraged to wear comfortable, casual clothing to the viewing and the funeral service.
