About | Patricia Jane "PJ" Houck Black, of Waynesboro, PA, departed this life on October 28, 2022 at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA and entered her eternal home. PJ was born on November 24, 1971 in Frederick, MD to Kenneth George Houck and the late Patricia Shuff Houck. PJ graduated from Walkersville High School and attended Frederick Community College. She was a member of the Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Department, the Woodsboro American Ladies Auxiliary, the Woodsboro American Legion and the PTA of her kids' schools. She was also a member of FFA and judged animals at the Great Frederick Fair. Additionally, PJ was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Woodsboro, MD and attended Five Forks Church once she moved to Waynesboro. PJ was employed by Offutt & Associates, CPAs, PA as well as AEZ Services, Inc. PJ was fiercely loyal to her family and friends. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, organize an event or hit the town for some fun. PJ is survived by her fiance, Todd Benedict; her father and step-mother, Kenneth George and Lisa Houck; and her grandmother, Lorraine Houck. She was a loving Mom to Kristen Black (Jarin), Austin Black (Tiffany), Tanya Summers (Jarod), Brandon Benedict (Alyssa) and Morgan Benedict. She was a doting Nonna to Gatlin, Westyn, Brinley, Bennett, Jacob, Mason and Colton. PJ was the watchful big sister of Robert Houck (Mandy) and Rebecca Giffin (Willie). She is also survived by aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many beloved friends. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M., Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro. The family will also receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Five Forks Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro. A service of PJ's life will immediately follow at 11:00 A.M., Thursday. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, 5991 Mt. Zion Road, Waynesboro. Pall bearers will be Brandon Benedict, Jarin Clem, Willie Giffin, Jarod Summers, Ben Thompson and Regg Gossert.
