| About | Richard Henry Kaufman, age 64, of Frederick, died unexpectedly Friday, July 20, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born May 25, 1954 in Frederick, he was the son of the late John M. and Helen Mercer Kaufman. He was the husband of Kathy Hamilton Kaufman, his wife of 45 years. Mr. Kaufman was a 1972 graduate of Walkersville High School. He worked in construction building houses for over 30 years and taught at the Frederick County Career and Technology Center for seven years. He also taught at Our House in Olney, a residential job training center for youth. He was a life member of the Guardian Hose Company, and a member of Pioneer Baptist Church, both of Thurmont. He enjoyed fishing on the Potomac River, spending time with his grandson who he was so proud of, and especially spending time with his wife. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter, Kelly Renee Lookingbill and husband Matt of Thurmont; grandson, Ryan Matthew Lookingbill; brother, John Kaufman and wife Maureen of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by his fishing buddies, Mark Shaw and Tommy Fouche; and his special Corgi pup, Loretta. He was predeceased by three half-sisters, and one half-brother. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro on Thursday, July 26 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 27 at 11 a.m. Rev. James Coblentz, his pastor, will officiate.
