About Mr. Richard Wayne "Snook" Eyler, 61, of Walkersville, died on Tuesday morning, February 20, 2007, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

He was the husband of Linda Sue Stout Eyler, whom he married in June 1969.

Born September 22, 1945, in LeGore, Mr. Eyler was a son of the late Keefer G. and Margie V. Redmond Eyler.

He was a graduate of Walkersville High School, class of 1963, and had attended Catonsville Community College. In 1967, Mr. Eyler joined the Frederick City Police Department, and through the years he had worked in various departments with the police force. He retired in June 1995, after 27 years of faithful service. He then began employment with the Department of Social Services in the Child Enforcement Agency and again retired in May 2006.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church of Frederick and the Frederick Chapter Fraternal Order of Police No. 91. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his son, Jeffrey Alan Eyler and wife Tasha of Walkersville; four brothers, Paul Eyler, Robert Eyler and wife Jackie and Terry Eyler and wife Joan, all of Woodsboro, and Jerry Eyler of Adamstown; four sisters, Eloise Troxell of Walkersville, Ruby Ambrose of Woodsboro, Theresa White and husband Sterling of Emmitsburg and Doris Olinger of Littlestown, Pa.; his grandson, Jarred Alan Eyler; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, from the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Deacon John L. Manley, of Saint John the Evangelical Roman Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702-1799.
