About Robert Wayne Darby, 75, of Middletown, MD passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Veteran’s Affair Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.



He was born on December 15, 1943 in Hagerstown, MD to the late Joseph Allnutt Darby and the late Roger and Alice Elizabeth Bare Rothenhoefer.



He was employed by Honeywell Manufacturing in Hagerstown, MD until his retirement. He was previously employed by Canam Steel in Point of Rocks, Maryland as the Vice President of Operations. After retirement he worked at the Potomac Park Campground in Falling Waters, WV.



He was a graduate of Walkersville High School Walkersville, MD and received his Associate’s Degree from Frederick Community College Frederick, MD.



Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during Vietnam.



He was a member of Marlowe Assembly of God Falling Waters, WV.



Robert was a faithful husband, awesome Dad and adored Grandfather.



He is survived by his wife of 52 years Dorothy “Dottie” Dusing Darby; daughter Jean Combs and her husband Ed of Falling Waters, WV; grandsons Chad and Ryan Hammond of Falling Waters, WV; brother Don Bare of Martinsburg, WV; brother Roger Rothenhoefer and his wife Linda of Frederick, MD; many loving nieces, nephews and in laws.



He was predeceased by a son Ralph E. Darby and a brother James Harrison.



Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Tuesday, January 8, 2018 at 6:00 pm with Pastor James Lloyd and Pastor Norman Gloeckler officiating. Military honors will be provided by Joint Veterans Council of Washington County and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 9:00 pm on Tuesday. The funeral home will be open after 9:00 am on Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends. Interment will be private.
