| About | On Jan. 1, 2011, Sharon “Susie” Amelia Snyder died at her home near Fairfield. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas Gilbert and Josephine (Cramer) Gilbert, who resides in Frederick, Md. Susie and her husband of 37 years, Daniel L. Snyder, ran a registered Hereford cattle operation for over 20 years. She is survived by a daughter, Brandy A. Mosser, wife of William J. Mosser IV, and a son, Seth D. Snyder. Both children reside near their parents’ Fairfield farm. She is survived by two brothers, John T ‘Tom’ Gilbert, Jr., married to Eleanor (Rice) Gilbert, and Richard Gilbert, married to Debbie (Young) Gilbert. Susie graduated from Walkersville High School in 1972 and obtained an associate’s degree in accounting from Frederick Community College. She was an active member of the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church and previously had been an active member of Glade UCC in Walkersville, Md. Susie and family belong to the American Hereford Association and multiple state Hereford associations. Susie enjoyed being with her family and friends, living in the country, gardening, knitting and traveling. Visitation will take place at the Monahan Funeral Home, 27 E. Main St., Fairfield, on Tuesday, Jan. 4, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be Wednesday, Jan 5, at 10 a.m. at the Gettysburg Presbyterian Church with interment following at the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
