| About | Shirley Ann Metz, age 86, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on June 30, 2023, in her hometown. Shirley was born on August 16, 1936, in Frederick, Maryland. She was a devoted mother and a loving grandmother, cherishing her role in her family's lives. Shirley attended Walkersville High School and graduated with the class of 1954. She began her career at Hechinger's and later worked in the Underwriting Department at State Farm until her retirement. After retiring, Shirley found fulfillment working in the pharmacy at Weis Market. Shirley is survived by her second husband Gene Metz, and her only daughter, Debra J. Young, and husband Rodney. She also leaves behind her grandsons, Jeremy D. Hall and Joseph D. Hall, along with Joseph's wife, Barbie. A viewing for Shirley will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home located at 106 East Church St., Frederick, MD.
