| About | On Tuesday, January 17th, 2023, Stephen (Butch) Lurine Cannon (76) passed at home, surrounded by his family. This was the last fight of his ongoing battle with cancer, which started in 2007. He was the first born of the late Carroll & Rosetta Boswell Cannon, who raised him in Yellow Springs, Md with his three brothers Carroll Grayson, Calvin Clayton, and Brian David Cannon. He is survived by his partner of 43 years, Sherry Zimmerman Deaton Cannon, his sons Jeremy Deaton (Trinity Deaton), Stephen Cannon (Allison Cannon), and Micah Cannon (Meredith MacConnell), his grandchildren Kylie & Addison Deaton, as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws and cousins. He graduated from Walkersville High School and was employed in the auto industry for over 50 years. Steve enjoyed spending his time at car shows with his wife in his '66 Chevelle Street Rod and ‘79 Cougar XR7 that he was extremely proud of. They also enjoyed camping, going to local dances, and taking trips to the beach. Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be Tuesday January 24th from 4-8 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 25th at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers for the service will be Jeremy Deaton, Stephen Cannon, Micah Cannon, Dave Cannon, Mike Grenier, and Bill Caudell along with honorary pallbearers Calvin Cannon, Grayson Cannon and Ed Zimmerman.
