About | Wilma B. Grimes, 91, of Frederick, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Northampton Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Ira Staley Grimes who died on May 11, 1978. Born March 20, 1913 in Walkersville, she was the daughter of the late Grayson and Mae Ramsburg Burrier. Mrs. Grimes was a longtime resident of Lewistown and a member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church. She graduated from Walkersville High School in 1930. She became a registered nurse in 1933 after graduating from the Maryland General Hospital School of Nursing. The day after retiring from nursing at Frederick Memorial Hospital in 1978, she went back to work with the Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary. She will be remembered by the many patients that she served. In earlier years, Mrs. Grimes and her late husband owned the Lewistown Service Center. She is survived by her five children, John G. Grimes of Alexandria, Va., Alverda G. Roach and husband Donald of Albuquerque, N.M., Ruth G. Mc Kinney, James S. Grimes both of Frederick, and Robert D. Grimes and Carolyn Ramey of Walkersville; seven grandchildren, Tammy Schubel, Robert Roach, Lynn Smith, Terree Long, Sheryl Clouse, John S. Grimes and Dawn McDowell; 11 great-grandchildren, Sean Schubel, Rusty Long IV, Randy Long, Jason Roach, Danielle Roach, Douglas Smith, twins Ben and Will Smith, Eric and Cassandra McDowell and Taylor Mae Clouse; sister, Mary Grimes and Brother Charles D. Burrier both of Walkersville. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Stull and Mildred Brunner; six brothers, Paul, Calvin, Glenn, Harold Joe, Grayson and Gilmer Burrier. Many nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Thursday, March 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Friday, March 4 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David A. Coakley officiating. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be John S. Grimes, Seal Schubel, Russell Long IV, Robert Roach, Donald Roach and John Mc Dowell. Honorary pallbearer, John D. Ramsburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Lewistown United Methodist Church, 11032 Hessong Bridge Road, Thurmont, MD 21788 or to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O.
