About Wells, ME, formerly of Beverly - After a courageous battle with cancer, Angelo Tilas (Angie) 72, beloved husband of Linda (Berube) Tilas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. He was the son of the late Nicholas and Christine Tilas. Although born in Peabody, he lived most of his life in Beverly. He was a graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1965.
Angelo graduated with a B.S. degree from Bentley College. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1968-1971 with the rank of Sargent. He earned a Bronze Star with "v" for valor in Vietnam.
Angelo owned and operated the Tasty Sub Shop on Cabot Street in Beverly for approximately 10 years before becoming ill. The last 10 years he was employed as "controller" for the DMB Financial, Cummings Center, Beverly.
He will be remembered as a gentleman with a great smile and a hardy handshake. He was kind, generous, proud and willing to help anyone in their time of need. Rest in peace, Angelo.
Angelo is survived by his brother John who resides in Rangeley, Maine, with his wife, Mary Tilas. He was predeceased by his sister, Elaine Tilas. He is also survived by his step-children, Robin Ingalls and her husband Glenn of Lynnfield, Joseph Crowell and his wife Tiffany of Magnolia; along with four Grandchildren, Melissa Ingalls, Ariel Twomey, Patrick Twomey, and Michele Cole. Angelo also leaves loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, that shared many fond memories.
