About | JERICHO, Vt. — James Lawrence Rhoades died peacefully on January 5th, at Burlington Health and Rehab Center in Burlington, VT after a battle with esophageal cancer. Jim was born on December 1, 1951 in Beverly, Massachusetts to Theodore R. and Mary A. (Rocci) Rhoades. He graduated from Beverly High School, where he played basketball, in 1970. In 1977, he married Elizabeth Finn. He attended North Shore Community College and became a respiratory therapist. Jim worked in Massachusetts and Vermont for 30 years as a respiratory therapist, and was meticulous craftsman. He was an avid New England sports fan and he also enjoyed traveling to Massachusetts to visit with his family and enjoying the native New England clams He leaves his son, Theodore James Rhoades, of Winooski; his fiancee Beth Demas of Jericho, and her family; his mother Mary of Beverly Massachusetts; his daughters, Lisa Gallant and Allison Rhoades; his brother Tommy and wife Marie; his three grandchildren as well as an extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Bobby, and wife Betty. Jim loved the ocean, the beach and sunny weather. Many thanks to the caregivers at Burlington Health and Rehab for the compassionate end of life care they provided to Jim. ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be private at the convenience at the family.
