About | Meredith I. (Giles) Rand, 69, beloved wife of Norman W. Rand Jr., died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Beverly Hospital. Born in Salem and raised in Wenham, she was the daughter of the late Earle and Geraldine (Underhill) Giles. She received her education in the Beverly School System. As a young woman, Mrs. Rand had been employed as an insurance underwriter for the Peerless Insurance Co. in Peabody. A resident of the town of Topsfield for the past 29 years, Meredith was a former member of Topsfield Parks and Cemetery Commission. She had a love for writing poetry and enjoyed art, but most of all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew her. Meredith I. Rand In addition to her husband, with whom she had shared 46 years of marriage, she is survived by her son, Jonathan Rand and his wife, Estelle, of Beverly; two grandchildren, Miles and Magnolia of Beverly; a sister, Earlene Beckett of Brewer, Maine; two brothers, Gerald Giles of Ipswich and Donald Giles of Danvers; her cousin, Christine Dresser, her husband, Stephen, and their daughter, Meri Dresser-Birdwell, all of Virginia Beach, Va. She was also the sister of the late Earle G. Giles Jr. |
