About | Alide (Giovo) Gallo April 8, 1911 - November 10, 2010 Alide (Giovo) Gallo of Sagamore died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 10, 2010. She was the wife of the late John Gallo. A life long resident of Sagamore and a graduate of Bourne High School in 1930, she was witty and beautiful and welcoming to everyone. She was generous and kind and genuine. Relationships were built on an even playing field, which gave her the freedom to really love people and honestly tell people what she thought. At age 99, she never lost the ability to talk to young people in a way that they could relate to her. She wanted them to know that she accepted who they are and was able to speak their language. She lived without barriers between people, rubbing shoulders with some important people and showing grace to people in trouble or with problems. After living just shy of a century, who can imagine the changes she has seen. This daughter of Italian immigrants was known as "Nonna" (which means Grandmother) to many more than her family because she was "Grandmother" to them all. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Anthony “Jon-Jon” Gallo. Visiting hours were held from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, November 12, 2010 in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A in Sandwich. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 324 Quaker Meeting House Road in East Sandwich, followed by burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery. |
