About | Saturday, October 19, 2013 Charles Christopulos, 86 Quincy - Charles Christopulos, 86, a former Bourne resident, died February 1, 2003, at Milton Healthcare in Milton after an illness with Alzheimer's disease. Mr. Christopulos graduated from Bourne High School in 1934. He attained a bachelor's degree in history from Harvard College in 1938 and a master's degree in education from Boston University. He served with the Army in World War II and was stationed in India. After the war, he taught history at Bourne High School for several years. In the 1950s, he managed the Buzzards Bay Hotel, a family business, and owned the IGA supermarket, later renamed the Cranberry Market, on Main Street in Buzzards Bay. Mr. Christopulos was president of the Bourne Kiwanis Club, a member of the Bourne School Committee, and active in local politics. He lived in Boston from the 1960s until 1999, when he moved to Quincy. He enjoyed reading about politics and history. An avid Red Sox fan, one of his favorite memories was of watching Babe Ruth hit two home runs during a game he attended at Fenway in 1927.
