About David Nelson Cooper
1955 - 2016
Centerville

David Nelson Cooper passed away surrounded by family in the early morning hours of March 10th after a long illness. He was 61 years young.

David was born on February 14, 1955 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Robert and Alice (Blackwell) Cooper.

David grew up in Bourne and graduated from Bourne High School in 1973.

He worked at the Paper and Provisions Warehouse in Hyannis and lastly at FedEx/ Kinko's in Hyannis until his illness prevented him from doing so.

In 1990, David met Janet, a mother with 2 children, Marcia and Michael.

David immediately became a father to them, stepping in when others stepped out, treating them like his own, giving them more love and support than most men give their own children. He made them a family again, he was their dad.

Dave and Janet married in 1994, and were married for 6 years until Janet's passing in 2001. It was a difficult time after her passing, but times got better in 2003 when one of Dave's biggest joys arrived, his grandson Ethan.

David was a big NASCAR fan, and last July he was able to see his first race in Loudon, New Hampshire.

He also enjoyed working in his yard, going clamming and spending time with friends and family. He was also known for his famous deviled eggs!

Everyone loved David. He will be remembered for his wit, his laugh, his smile, and his willingness to help anyone who needed it. But most importantly, he will be remembered for his love and compassion, not only for his family, but for everyone he knew.

We love you Grampie! You will never be forgotten Dad!

In addition to his wife Janet, David was predeceased by his father Robert and his brother Bobby..

A graveside service was held at the Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit, followed by a gathering at Bobby Byrnes Pub, 65 Rte. 6A, Merchants Square in Sandwich.
