About | Dexter Sumner Phinney 1910-1956 Falmouth Enterprise, Friday, May 04, 1956, Page 5 Obituary Dexter Sumner Phinney of Pocasset died Monday at Tobey Hospital. He was 45 and had lived in Pocasset for those 45 years. Mr. Phinney was Assistant Manager of the Post Exchange at Otis Air Force Base and the brother of Miss Elizabeth Phinney, Pocasset Postmaster. Funeral services were yesterday afternoon from his home on Barlow's Landing Road with burial at the Pocasset Cemetery, Area B. The Rev. Sidney Cahoon of the First Baptist Church, Woodstock, N.H., officiated. Mr. Phinney was born in Pocasset, the son of Roland S. and Sarah M. (Barlow) Phinney and was graduated from Bourne high School in 1929. He attended Bates College and is a graduate of Bentley School of Accounting, Boston. He was a member of Pocasset Community Club and attended the Pocasset First Baptist Church. He was married to Miss Winifred J. Jordan who survives him. He also leaves his mother Mrs. Sarah Barlow, two daughters, Alynn of Boston, Sarah of St. Johnsbury Academy Vt., two sons, Jordan with the Navy at Long Beach, Calif.; and John, a pupil at Peebles Elementary School. |
