About | Douglas N. and Paula Jo (Brennan) Neff Obituary Douglas N. and Paula Jo (Brennan) Neff, 27 and 25, respectively, of Mashpee, Massachusetts, both formerly of Bourne, Massachusetts, passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Sandwich, Massachusetts, on Easter Sunday, April 23, 2000. Both were born in Wareham, Massachusetts, and raised in Bourne, the high school sweethearts were married in 1992, a few months after Paula's graduation from Bourne High School, from which Doug had graduated the previous year. Doug enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was 18 years old and served from 1992 to 1997. Paula traveled with him during his enlistment and accompanied him while he was stationed in Germany and Texas. During their time in Texas, Doug served as an Army Helicopter Mechanic at Fort Hood and as the General Manager of a family entertainment center in Dallas. and he was active in community service. Paula attended Fisher Junior College and worked as a Medical Secretary at the Arthritis and Rheumatic Disease Center in Hyannis, Massachusetts, for Dr. Ann Trout. While stationed in Germany, she developed an interest in collecting clocks, knickknacks, and crystal. Paula also enjoyed crafts, sewing, and cake decorating. After the Neffs moved back to Cape Cod in 1997, Doug worked in security at Falmouth Hospital and took an interest in community activities. The couple moved to Mashpee in late 1999. Shortly before his death, Doug was hired as the Security Coordinator for Safe Harbor, a shelter for victims of domestic violence. He was involved in community activities and loved to tell stories and make people laugh. Doug planned to open a family entertainment center featuring indoor go-carts and Laser Tag to reach out to area teenagers. |
