Jeannette "Jean" (Tucker) Wagner, 62, of Bourne.

Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Accomplished Sportswoman and Civic Leader, A lifelong Cape resident died unexpectedly Saturday evening.

She was the wife of the Honorable Augustus F. Wagner, Jr. for 43 years.

Born at Tobey Hospital to Calvin and Sue Tucker, she was educated in the Bourne schools, graduating from Bourne High School in 1959.

She pursued her nursing career at Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Attleboro, MA. Her nursing skills were utilized at Hightower Nursing Home, Monument Beach, MA. In addition to her early nursing career, she was a successful business owner and real estate agent. She also served on the board of directors for the United Way of Cape Cod and the American Heart Association, Cape and Islands Division, and was a member of the Finance Committee for the Town of Bourne for many years.

Throughout the many years of her husband's service as a Justice of the Superior Court, she traveled with him to virtually every county throughout Massachusetts sharing her kindness and generosity of spirit with all those who met her. As an example of her impact on others, Boston Police Commissioner Kathleen M. O'Toole honored Jean with a remembrance before delivering her speech to the Boston Inn of Court. An accomplished golfer and skier.

Jean was a member of The Ridge Club in Sandwich where she served for many years as the President of the Women's Golf Association.

Following in her father's footsteps, she was a proud member of the Hole-in-One Club, and found great success in many golf tournaments.

Jean skied at Saddleback Mountain in Rangeley, ME, with her husband Gus, her family and many friends for over 34 years. Recently, she was featured in a television presentation for Saddleback Ski Area in which she demonstrated her skiing prowess and sparkling personality.

Visiting hours were Friday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Boulevard (Route 28), Bourne.

A church service was held on Saturday at 10 a.m., First Congregational Church, 68 Main Street, Falmouth, followed by burial at Oakland Grove Cemetery, Bourne.
