About | John N.F. Harris, Jr. June 24, 1929 - February 24, 2011 John N. F. Harris, Jr., 81, of Buzzards Bay died on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Bourne Manor from complications of renal failure. He was the husband of Geraldine B. (Hall) Harris, formerly of Bar Harbor, ME. Born in New Bedford on June 24, 1929, he was a son of the late John Norman and Mary (Tucy) Harris. Raised is Buzzards Bay, he graduated from Bourne High School and received his degree from the University of Maryland. He loved playing the trumpet and baseball. John retired from the US Army after 30 years of honorable service. He was a Criminal Investigator (CID) and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. After his retirement, he worked for 10 years with Stone & Webster of Boston as a security auditor and Wackenhut Security as Chief of Security at the Pilgrim Power Plant in Plymouth. He was on the Bourne Planning Board for 7 years in the 1990’s, was the Financial Secretary with the Knights of Columbus, the President of the Bourne High School Alumni and was active in the Lions Club. He was also a history buff and enjoyed writing letters to the Cape Cod Times. Visiting hours were held from 10 am until the time of the memorial service at 12 pm on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. in Bourne. Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne followed. |
