About | Posted Jan. 21, 2009 Leslie F. Ellis Jr., 85, of Sagamore Beach died January 16, at his home. Born in Sagamore Beach, he was a graduate of Bourne High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Sea Bee during World War II. Mr. Ellis was an assistant fire chief at Ft. Devons and fire chief at Camp Wellfleet and served as a call fireman for Bourne for many years. He raised cranberries and loved to hunt, fish and garden. He loved woodworking and was a member of the DeWitt Clinton Masonic Lodge in Sandwich for many years. He was also a founder and active member of Christ Chapel in Centerville. He was preceded in death by an infant son Kent Ellis. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday at Christ Chapel, 1200 Old Stage Road, Centerville, followed by burial in the family plot at the Sagamore Cemetery. |
