About | Olive Frances (Kelley) Alden Mainey December 26, 1933 - April 27, 2012 Obituary Olive Frances Kelley Alden Mainey, 78, of Bourne, passed away at home on April 27 surrounded by her children after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Olive was born on December 26, 1933 to the late Dorothy and Herbert Kelley. Raised in Monument Beach and graduated from Bourne High School, Class of 1951. Olive was predeceased by husbands William C. Alden Jr. of Buzzards Bay and Robert H. Mainey of Providence, Rhode Island. Olive was involved in many activities throughout her life. In high school, she played varsity basketball and field hockey. She was Past Worthy Advisory of Wareham Assembly of Rainbow Girls, and went on to be selected as the Grand Representative to the State of Colorado. In later years she was involved with the Wareham Eastern Star, Swift Memorial United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She served as President of the Emblem Club, Elks Lodge, and as Commander of the Cape Cod Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. Olive and sister Nancy founded a small business named Grandmas' Girls, outfits for American Girl dolls. They sold the outfits at local fairs and private house parties. Her greatest accomplishment was her family. She will be truly missed by all who loved her. Visiting hours were Thursday, May 3rd from 5-8 P.M. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne. Funeral services were on Friday, May 4th at 11:00 A.M. at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home. Burial followed at the South Monument Beach Cemetery. |
