About | Boston Sunday Globe West Section July 22, 2001 Wayland Robert Dwight Merchant, 60, of Wayland died July 15 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. Born in Camden, Maine, Mr. Merchant attended Arcadia University in Nova Scotia where he received his undergraduate degree. He earned a master's degree in neurophysiology at the University of Montreal. He was doing his doctorate in the same field. A resident of Wayland for the past 18 years, he was a well known, pleasant and charitable person who donated to many causes. He was a firearms enthusiast and especially enjoyed target and trap shooting. Memorial services were held Thursday at the Duckett Funeral Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons in Sudbury. Burial was private at the request of the family. ------------------------------------------------------- Bob graduated From Bourne High School 1958 He took the College Course while living in Buzzards Bay He was in the following activities at school: Class Vice President 1; Class President 2; National Honor Society 3; President 4; Canal Currents 1,2,3,4; Associate Editor 4; Student Council 1,2,3; Student Play Senior Director; Prom Chairman; Baseball 2,3,4; Halloween Party Chairman; Christmas Party; Paper Drives; Driver Training "Merch"...there's the camera, where's Bob?"...hates shoes...shy with girls?...hopes to go to Annapolis...thumbing to Monument Beach...outspoken!
