| About | Cape Cod Times November 14, 1999 Robert W. Haskell, 79 Former owner of Buzzards Bay Filling Station veteran. BUZZARDS BAY - Robert Watson Haskell, 79, died Friday after a long illness with cancer at his home. Born in Bourne he graduated from Bourne High School in 1939. Mr. Haskell owned and operated the Cape Cod Filling Station in Buzzards Bay for many years. He began working there at age 14. He served in Niantic, Conn., for five years during World War II. He was also a special police officer in the Town of Bourne during the late 1950s and early 1960s. He enjoyed antique autos, country music and his dogs, Beanie and Molly. A memorial celebration was held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Country Road in Cataumet. A graveside service was held in the Sagamore Cemetery. |
